Help us recognize former Head Coach Martha Thorn

As the first Coach in WVU Women’s Tennis history, while holding a pivotal role in Title IX legislation, Coach Martha Thorn was a trailblazer in the world of college athletics. Coach Thorn started the WVU women’s tennis program in 1973-1974 season and continued to have a 27-year tenure with the program.

As we continue to build the future of our program, we would like to honor our past.  To recognize the trailblazer that our first head Coach was, the WVU women's tennis program would like to dedicate our recently purchased scoreboard in Coach Martha Thorn’s name.   This is where we need your help.  In order to add the dedication, as well as install the scoreboard and the outline of state of West Virginia, the total cost of the project comes to $6,000.

The scoreboard will be a permanent fixture in our indoor tennis facility.  Thus, it is a perfect opportunity to honor Coach Martha Thorn as future teams can recognize her name for generations to come.  

We are asking for your help to fundraise for this scoreboard so this project can become a reality.  We ask for your support whether large or small and ask that you also pass this message along to other alumni or friends of the program.   We thank you for your continued support of the WVU women's tennis program.
