Every Kid Deserves Hope

My entire family is either from or still living in West Virginia. The beauty of the state and her people made a huge impact on me and my parents. I firmly believe growing up in West Virginia shaped who my parents are and the person I would become. My dad taught me to be kind and caring and that it was morally the right thing to do to help others in need when you could. I always lived by the saying "the measure of who we are is what we do with what we have." I do not have much, but I have always received compliments on my hair. So, three years ago I started growing it out to donate to children who were battling cancer. It was a small thing that I could do to help. I believe that all children deserve to have hope. They are some of the most courageous people around and can inspire us all. The state of West Virginia is a state of fighters, and a state of some of the kindest people I have ever known. Together I want to continue to give these brave kids hope, and let them know they are not alone.

All money donated goes directly to the WVU Medicine Children’s Cure Kids Cancer fund to support the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Departments. These donations work by providing state-of-the-art pediatric cancer research, supportive psychosocial services to enhance the quality of life of our patients and their families throughout treatment and beyond cure.

Ways you donations will help:

Hosting special events for patients and their families including holiday parties and discharge parties
Providing arts and craft supplies for the Pediatric Infusion Center
Providing new patient handbooks and other educations or related materials
Providing WVU Medicine Children’s Infusion Center with drinks, food, and related items for patient and family’s comfort during treatments
Assistance paying monthly bills (mortgage/rent, utilities, car payments, etc.) and meal coupons for hospital cafeteria.
Help provide supportive psychosocial services to enhance the quality of life of our patients and their families throughout treatment and beyond cure.
