WVU College of Law Veterans Advocacy Clinic

WVU College of Law Veterans Advocacy Clinic Fund

Our Mission & Goal

Veterans make up roughly 10% of WV’s population, which is a higher percentage than nationally.  This means WV has a higher concentration of veterans among our population – both male and female.  The state has nearly 10,000 female veterans, and nearly 150,000 total. The VA is designed to provide services to these veterans, but it can be a daunting process.  Unfortunately, not a lot of WV attorneys have the time to learn the intracacies of the VA system.  That’s where we come in.

Jed Nolan, Director of the Clinic, supervises third year law students who have shown a commitment to working with veterans during their last year of law school.  The clinic provides direct representation for veterans who otherwise would have difficulty finding an attorney to litigate VA claims or finding an attorney they can afford.  Free legal services.  The clinic strives to do outreach to let WV veterans know that we are here to help and to provide information about the greater world of benefits that exist for them.

We Need Your Help

Representing veterans underscores for our students that the practice of law is not just a way to earn a living.  The practice of law in WV is about serving those in need.  They will take their interactions with these clients with them into their practices.

Donations to our program ensure veterans have a resource available while giving law students the chance to gain real world experience.  Where else can a single donation have such a broad impact?

How To Help

  1. Contribute today! All proceeds raised through donation, whether small or large, will make a big difference!
  2. Spread the word! Ask your family, friends, and co-workers to help share the campaign.
