The WVU Wrestling program has a proud tradition dating all the way back to 1921. In that time, the Mountaineers have earned 13 top-25 finishes at the NCAA Championships and claimed three national champions earning a total of five championships. Further accolades include 22 wrestlers combining for 30 All-American honors, 84 individual champions across weight classes, and 170 grapplers selected to the NCAA Championships.
The Big 12 Conference is, without a doubt, the most competitive wrestling conference in the country and in the history of the NCAA. Currently, Big 12 member schools hold 50 team championships out of the 88 years that a champion has been crowned. In order for WVU Wrestling to consistently compete and win in our conference and on the national level, we need the best. A large part of this is facilities. Great progress has been made over the years in the wrestling pavilion. Most recently, our team locker room has received several upgrades such as new flooring, HVAC system, A/V functionality, and new wooden lockers.
The images you see here are the next steps we seek to take in giving our student-athletes the best resources to succeed. We have already had several generous donors commit $1,000 to naming rights for each of our new lockers. In addition to this ongoing opportunity, we are seeking private donations to install the wall graphics shown in these renderings. The total estimated cost for these additions will be $21,000, ($9,000 for the locker room interior and $12,000 for the exterior hallway).
We encourage donors to consider a donation of $500, $1,000, $2,500, or $5,000 to the project. Donors who make a commitment of $5,000 or more will have the opportunity of name recognition within the outer hallway.
